Notes on sourcing for these recipes:

  • Small Town Woman is a blog by Beth Pierce.
  • The Woman Suffrage Cookbook is a compilation of recipes and protest pieces compiled in 1886 by Hattie A. Burr.
    • This is a piece rather influential to the history of women's suffrage, standing as the first suffragist cookbook in America. I reference it often in my interpersonal dialogues and writing on feminism. (I'm not tagging this with that, but I do think it's important to note.)
  • Side Orders refers to Side Orders: Small Helpings of Southern Cookery & Culture by John Egerton.
  • The Baker's cookbook used is Baker's Easiest-Ever Chocolate Recipes, published in 1993. (My particular copy is disintegrated like no other.)
  • Mrs. Beeton's Book of Household Management was written and compiled by Isabella Mary Beeton from 1836-1865.
